Launched in Bahrain in November of 2019, Calo is on a mission to make healthy easy. We’re a team of dedicated people driving this mission by providing better, faster, and cheaper ways to access food through technology. 

As we grow, the role of the accounting department becomes more vital, this role contributes directly to the financial well being of the organization and efficiency of our operations.

You’ll work on maintaining and managing accounting duties in the organization with a focus on timely reporting accuracy, and identifying areas to improve efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinating accounting functions and programs.

  • Preparing financial analyses and reports.

  • Preparing revenue projections and forecasting expenditure.

  • Assisting with preparing and monitoring budgets.

  • Maintaining and reconciling balance sheet and general ledger accounts.

  • Assisting with annual audit preparations.

  • Investigating and resolving audit findings, account discrepancies, and issues of non-compliance.

  • Preparing VAT tax returns.

  • Supporting and proactively identifying cost reduction opportunities with the Operations Manager and Purchasing Officer.

  • Contributing to the development of new or amended accounting systems, programs, and procedures.

  • Oversees and approves payroll, initiating computer processing; checks, & verifying finished product.

  • Performing other accounting duties and supporting junior staff as required or assigned.

  • Planning and preparing monthly team budgets with relevant department heads at HQ

  • Creating ROI assessments on people, culture, and team expenditures at HQ

  • Collaborating with operations for the legal onboarding process of new employees (offer letters, employment contracts, GOSI compliance)

An ideal candidate would be

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance preferred.

  • 8+ years of accounting experience.

  • Working knowledge of VAT filings, IFRS and GAAP.

  • Strong financial analysis skills.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Strong organizational and stress management skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly with Excel.

  • Ability to train and manage staff.

  • Ability to work with little to no supervision.

  • Attention to detail

  • Deadline-oriented
