Our Story

Shamsaha (previously WCCI) operates the first and only victim’s crisis advocacy program in the Arabian Gulf, providing emotional and informational support for women who have experienced domestic violence and sexual violence. Our two advocacy programs operate 24 hours a day, and 7 days a week. Shamsaha was founded in Bahrain in 2015 and began full-scale operations in January of 2016. Shamsaha has a team of over 100 people, including more than 115 volunteer certified advocates. Among the group, there are 20 languages spoken and a wide range of skills and expertise.

Our team culture is very client-centric. The kind of work we do involves communicating with clients, and advocates, and requires conflict resolution, problem solving, and stress and pressure management. 

Sometimes the kind of work we do and the cases we deal may get little heavy on our team members and advocates and for that reason, we have ensure continual counseling and emotional support is available to the team members, in addition to maintaining a positive and nurturing environment so that every member feels at ease. We also organize quarterly team building activities, as well as engagement events to foster a sense of belonging within the team.
